About kanpur


Kanpur Museum, also known as Kanpur Sangrahalaya, is the official museum of the city of Kanpur. It exhibits artefacts telling the journey of Cawnpore, the Manchester of Asia in British colonial period to its present-day version as Kanpur. It was initially built by British as King Edward Memorial Hall in honour of Edward VII but later renamed as Gandhi Bhawan in 1999, housing a municipal library.

Timings and Entry Fee 

Opens on Tuesday-Sunday from 10:30 P.M to 4:30 P.M Museum remains closed on Monday, second Tuesday and Gazette holidays.

Entry in Museum requires a paid ticket of INR 15 while the admission is free for Journalists and children below the age of 12 years.
